NaBloPoMo

Do you know what today is?  It's November 30.  Why is that date special?  Because, unbeknown to you, I am completing a blog challenge: National Blog Posting Month.  Basically, you create a blog post every day for a month.  And I did it!  Wa-hoo!

I didn't announce it ahead of time that I was doing it because I didn't want to look like a fool if I wasn't able to keep up.  And I wasn't sure that I could -- it's been a hella busy month at work and at home, plus I'm still wiped from the twinlets and sleepy from lack of sleep (thank you, bladder).  And, for some reason, though I did submit my blog link, it never appeared in the blogroll.  Grrr...

So, here I am... at the end of a month with 30 blog entries.  I have to admit that they have really blurred together.  I'm not sure that I could keep up with a daily entry for months on end.  I don't know that I have all THAT much to say, and we all know that blogs with nothing to say are bad reads.  Since I don't do reviews or give-aways, all I have is the writing and if it is too diluted or boring, I don't even have that.  OK, I have cute kid pictures sometimes, too.

Anyway, I'm pooped.  And I might not blog tomorrow -- we'll see...

Hey, here's an idea: if anyone out there who happens to read this wants to ask me a question, go for it!  I promise to answer with more than one word, unless you ask me something like "do you like dark chocolate or milk chocolate better"?  Answer: dark.  I can't really answer that with more than one word. OK, I could say dark chocolate and it would be two words, but you get the picture, right?

If this works, great!  If it doesn't, meh...

Courtenay, I've got one for you... How did you choose your kids' names (Milo and Violet) and were there any funny choices that you and Scott considered? For example, my hubby was dead-set on Crosby for years and I think he'd use it for a girl if I let him...

OOoh, that's a good one!

With both of them, around 12-14 weeks pregnant, a name just came into my head and wouldn't get out. I felt pretty sure that the only name I loved with Milo was Milo -- and that was before the 20 week ultrasound where we found out he was a boy. Same thing with Violet. It's particularly funny because neither name was on the list of names Scott and I had been talking about for the decade or so before we had kids. So I maintain that they named themselves and I just had to listen.

Funny names? We called Milo "Fergus" or "Worm" throughout the pregnancy as a joke. Violet was "Wiggle" when I was pregnant with her because I first felt her move around 12 weeks and she's never stopped, hehehe...

Scott refuses to discuss names until we know gender and we both choose not to reveal names until birth because we don't want nasty comments. People never name their kids things they hate, so why do others wrinkle their noses and look disgusted at the name of your very loved baby? I don't get the criticism...

I just have to tell you how much I love the name Milo - I love it sooooo much!! Did you read the Phantom Tollbooth growing up?

We kept our names private as well, after the first time my mom made a face at my favorite girl name (we didn't find out gender, so we had two names ready for each of my boys). I know - what are people thinking??

Congrats on your challenge - not sure I could do it!! Perhaps I'll attempt it next year.

Here's one somebody might want to hear about. How did you and Scottie meet? And how the heck is he doing? I never hear from him... or e-mail him my lazy self. Love to you all.

Hi, John! First of all, Scottie is fine, though crazy busy. He's put up four shows this fall and is building an opera. He's also hunting this weekend and traveling next weekend. Thankfully, his schedule takes a nice big break right about the time I'll be huge and unable to tie my shoes :)

He and I met in undergrad. For the longest time, I thought he was two people -- the quiet, sensitive fella who always sat behind me (so I couldn't get a good look at him) in acting class and the loud, obnoxious dude who worked in the scene shop and asked me, "Do you know how to use a screw gun?" Answer: uh, yes.

Apparently, at the tender age of 19, he gave people one of two impressions and I got both of them. And still managed to fall in love with him, Batman obsession and all...

Thanks for stopping by! And congratz to you too! It can be a bittersweet ending--but oh, I am looking forward to the end! I'm not the best blogger these days, so I stand up and applaud you for 30 days of posting! Holy MOLY! I'm not sure if I could ever accomplish such an amazing feat! :)
